Together We Unite Through Music

celebrating International Women’s Day, Sunday 9th March 2025

Together We Unite Through Music celebrates music and words by women and FINTA creatives at 7.30pm on Sunday March 9th at the Bradshaw Hall, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, curated by composer Liz Dilnot Johnson.

Liz is inviting all choirs and singers to come to this event as part of the audience (free tickets) to take part in the world premiere of her innovative new work The Same Element which uses texts by famous women. Liz will be devising this piece with the audience live as part of the event (no prior rehearsal). The audience will be invited to sing with several layers of music that build, and it is designed as an opportunity to explore sung and spoken words together and let things emerge.

Also involved will be the performers on stage, including Suzie Purkis and her ensemble Pace, also singer/songwriter Millicent B James and the RBC Sax Ensemble (dir. Naomi Sullivan) plus percussionists and pianists - it should be an exciting experience to be part of!

The rest of the programme is an eclectic mix of music including new songs written especially for Suzie and Pace by Liz and up and coming RBC student composers, and a new version of Liz's Lighten Our Darkness for saxophone ensemble - The Same Element takes the same melody and reinvents it....

Liz is offering a free PDF of The Same Element score to anyone interested. If you’d like a copy please get in touch with Liz at liz@lizdilnotjohnson.co.uk before the deadline 9th March 2025.
